Rhyming with Dr. Seuss

The Task:

  • Learn about who Dr. Seuss was and how he created Cat in the Hat and other characters.
  • Read several Dr. Suess stories with your parents.
  • Choose your favorite Dr. Seuss story to bring in and share for Show-n-Tell on March 2nd.
  • Play Dr. Suess games related to rhyming and your favorite story.
  •  Make a Cat in the Hat, hat and write words that rhyme with hat and cat on it.
  • Choose an activity to do at home that goes along with your favorite Dr. Seuss book and bring it in to share for Shown-n-Tell on Wednesday, March 2nd.

The Process:



Now it is time to walk down to Seussville and learn more about Dr. Seuss and his rhymes. Below are some very interesting sites that will increase your understanding of Dr. Seuss. These sites will help you as you and your parents complete the following activities.




1. Dr. Seuss has a very interesting history. Read the history along with your parents and discover the true meaning of Dr. Seuss and how his stories developed. Draw a picture about the story your parents read to you.




2. Next, let your parents read to you several Dr. Seuss stories and choose your favorite story.




3. Now that you have chosen your favorite Dr. Seuss story, you and your parent can enjoy playing games and doing activities associated with your favorite story on Suessville. Enjoy!!!!




4. Let's color a coloring sheet of your favorite character from either your favorite Dr. Seuss story or any other Dr. Seuss character.




5. Cat in the Hat is one of Dr. Seuss funniest characters always making a mess but finding a way to clean it up. Now it is time for you and your parent to make a mess. Make a cat in the hat Hat and write atleast five words that rhyme with Cat and Hat on your hat.
